The Appreciation Protocol

Our brains are hardwired to love acknowledgment and appreciation. Whether we take positive actions or negative, it makes no different to a brain that has learnt that the behaviour results in attention or some kind.  Both positive and negative attention registers reward to the brain.

When we consciously choose to bring appreciation into our lives we start fostering that primal need within us in a positive way.  Our stress response reduces and we move into a calmer, more satisfied, state of mind.

So how can we ensure we are creating high vibrational appreciation as opposed to fabricated fawning, cloying, flattery that roots are embedded in fear of rejection and abandonment?

Start by taking time to connect with others through positive ENCOURAGEMENT. Take someone from where they are to a slightly higher level of optimism, hope or enjoyment. I have always maintained the our true source of energy comes from inspiration. When you offer encouragement you have the possibility of creating inspiration within an individual that will stimulate them to do more of that positive behaviour. This in term will reduce their stress levels as they will feel safe, accepted and loved whilst doing it. Simple encouragement equals powerful healing.

To expand this healing practice we must now turn the light on ourself. We are less proficient at SELF-APPRECIATION. It takes a little effort because it often moves you out of your comfort zone, confronting old childhood and societal beliefs that we are not worthy or selfish to actively grant ourselves this grace. However, if you can suspend this conditioning in disbelief for a moment, and move instead into this new learning zone you will find that as you extend small yet meaningful daily acknowledgements of appreciation towards yourself, your energy, creativity and potential for personal change and growth can and will occur.

When you practice encouragement towards others and appreciation towards yourself, you will be repeatedly moving your body into its parasympathetic response  (calm). Reducing stress in this way can release new levels of joy, energy and connection as well as reduce inflammation.

Finally, let me share something very important with you. When you connect with appreciation of yourself you do something very special….you radiate positive healing energy into the Earth. Self-Appreciation is a core act of Earth activism and sustainability.
